It is not the lightest seat, but that was the trade-off for quality and safety and the only downfall. Carried my first in her seat until 15 months old without any issues or concerns about weight. It is the carrier and attached base, additional bases can be purchased online for multiple vehicles, or it's very easy to buckle in when there isn't a base (like a few rides in grandma's car). Grandpa had zero problem carrying heavy toddler in carseat carrier multiple times. Can also be snapped into Chicco compatible strollers. ONE HAND ADJUST makes it so east to move for parents.
